WHAT WE BELIEVE
Jordan Crossing Church is a faith community rooted in beliefs found in the Bible.
We believe that when Jesus was crucified for the sins of the people of the world, victory was won for everyone. Upon His return to heaven, Jesus left the Holy Spirit to serve as our comforter and counselor. We await His promised return to earth to take us to heaven.
God is concerned with the quality of human life. Our families, children, jobs, talents, money, and time are all important to Him.
God Is Our Goal
We believe in a Trinity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit - which make up one God. A God abundant in generosity, love, and grace. God desires to remodel who you are and how you live. He longs to transform us into accurate representatives of His own character. To become like God, we must first learn about His character. We believe that God:
-
Is love. God is the embodiment of love, as told in 1 John: 4
-
Gives us free will, allowing us the choice to accept or deny His promise of salvation Revelation 3:20, Revelation 22:17
-
Has a special plan for each of our futures to make us happy Jeremiah: 29:11-13, Ephesians 2:10
-
Blessed each of us with special talents and gifts to help carry out his divine plan in our lives 1 Peter 4:10-11, Romans 12:4-8
Experiencing God begins a lifelong adventure in growth and service. This knowledge and experience powers our mission to tell the world about His love and offer of salvation.
The Bible Is Our Road Map
Scripture is a road map, providing directions that clearly show the exit ramp directly into heaven. The Bible is God's GPS voice, speaking His guiding love personally to you today.
Sometimes He speaks through stories, such as David and Goliath, Noah and the ark, or Christ on the cross. Some stories teach us how to handle troubles we face each day. Others fill us with hope and peace. Each is like a personal letter from God to you.
Some of Scripture includes direct instructions from God, such as the Ten Commandments, in Exodus 20. These tell us about God's expectations for us. When people asked Jesus to summarize these commands, He said, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, and soul, and love your neighbor as you love yourself." Luke 10:27
On other pages, the Bible provides practical advice and encouragement through parables, lists, promises, and warnings. Amazingly, though many different writers throughout thousands of years wrote the Bible, each page describes the same God in ways we can understand and apply in our lives today.
Jesus Is Our Way
Jesus, son of God, suffered a crucifixion on a cross here on earth as our substitute. He paid our penalty for sin, giving us forgiveness and allowing us a future spending eternity with Him. We believe He is in heaven interceding with the Father for us, preparing for our deliverance from sin and death. We believe that Jesus:
-
Is our mediator between humanity and God, thus our only way to access God 1 Timothy 2:5, John 14:6, 1 John 2:1
-
Wants to guide us to eternal life in heaven with Him John 8:12
-
Came to earth as a human, was crucified as substitute for our sins, and rose from the dead John 1:14, Romans 10:9-10, Romans 6:23
-
Will soon return to Earth to bring His faithful followers home to heaven for eternity John 14:3
Experiencing Jesus means experiencing God. Because he became human and sacrificed himself for us, Jesus is able to also be our advocate in heaven. His crucifiction is the reason we end prayers with, "in Jesus's name we pray, amen."
Baptism Is Our Promise
Baptism is an important part of our relationship with God. It is a Biblical symbol of dying to self and coming alive in Jesus. It shows that we want to be transformed into a new person through God's love and grace. Jesus himself showed us the importance of being baptized in his own baptism here on Earth, as told in Matthew 3.
At Jordan Crossing Church, we baptize by fully dipping in water because it symbolizes burying our old self and emerging as a different person, fully filled with God's grace. Through baptism, we are born again, with a new life in Jesus.
